The Achievers had our annual elections meeting on September 14, 2014. Our meeting started with roll call to “What was your favorite fair project?” We talked about some business before we finally started with the elections. The record books are due by September 24, 2014 and will be judged by the adult committee at 6 p.m. on that evening.
We can enroll on line this year but not until November 1, 2014. All officers who we elect will have to attend officer training, and the leader training is on October 20, 2014 in Sabetha.
Ashley Schmitz and Erin Schmitz read our club by-laws and then we voted. Our new club president to conduct meetings and lead us is Bailey Schmitz. Gabriella Sudbeck is our new vice-president in charge of the program book and chairperson of the program committee. Our new secretary is Trevor Holthaus and our new treasurer is Kyle Kramer. I, Isabella Sudbeck, am now the club reporter and Emi Deters and Megan Deters were elected club historians. We elected Gabriella Sudbeck and Noah Deters to be 4-H council delegates, and Megan Deters to be their alternate. The new club leaders are Matt and Rachel Deters and Pam Deters. The adult advisory committee is Deborah Sudbeck and Nichelle Koch. The financial audit committee is Karen Holthaus and Janet Schmitz.
Our junior president is Evan Schmitz, and our junior vice president is Cloey Strathman. Our new junior secretary is Owen Strathman. We elected Erin Schmitz as the junior treasurer and Colton Deters as the junior reporter. Finally we elected Owen Strathman, Malissa Deters, and Isabella Sudbeck as our recreation leaders.
A motion by Kyle Kramer was carried that the treasurer would now sit at the head table with the president, vice-president, and secretary. We also voted that we will no longer have song leaders at our meetings.
Next we took volunteers for four committees concerning 4-H Week. Kyle Kramer and Trevor Holthaus will co-chair the Radio promo for 4-H Week. Isabella Sudbeck will chair the enrollment party. Gabriella Sudbeck will chair the window display. Colton Colton Koch will chair the 4-H promotion to be held at the area schools. We decided to wait until next month to make additional committee appointments.
After much discussion, Gabriella Sudbeck made a motion we give 48 hours of 4-H service to the community by having a bake sale on October 12, 2014 after church at St. Mary’s in St. Benedict. The money would go to the Food Bank in town. We approved the motion and Gabriella volunteered to chair the project committee. Each member will bring two items to the bake sale. We also passed another motion that we move the enrollment party/meeting next month to the first Sunday, October 5, 2014. In this way it would not be on the same day as our bake sale.
The elections were a lot of fun, and we were all laughing by the end. Gabriella Sudbeck gave a speech about giving speeches and Isabella Sudbeck did a reading. After which we closed the meeting.
